Where are our brochures?

MEETING AT THE MOTOR-VEHICLE DISTRIBUTORS OFFICE
Sales director: As you know we are going to present our new models range at the trade exhibition next week in Moscow. This is a very important event for us and we must assure that we present ourselves and the company in the best possible way to our clients. I want all marketing materials to be translated in Russian.

Later that afternoon in the CEO's room for a last briefing:

CEO: The agenda for today is to check if everything is ready for the trade exhibition. All seems to be ready but I still have not seen the Russian language brochures with the new models.

So, could somebody please call the printing house to check where they are?

We had to use an online translation tool..

PHONE CALL TO PRINTING HOUSE
Marketing manager: Goodmorning, we have ordered some brochures for translation and printing. Can you give me an update regarding the status because we need them urgently?

Customer relationship manager printing house: Hold on, let me check. Ok, we have received all your materials, but unfortunately we could not find a translator who could translate from Japanese to Russian, so we had to use an online translator.

Could you please ask someone to check the quality of the translation because I don't know what this all means.

This is not what we have been looking for!

Junior marketing manager: This is not what we have been looking for! The text is completely meaningless. Luckily we have some time to reprint, but how could this happen?

Marketing manager: Online translation tools are only efficient for very simple text, and for languages that belong to the same language group, otherwise misinterpretation could occur!


Junior marketing manager: Ok, I will ask the producer to send us an English version of the brochure and we will translate it into Russian.
